Who We Are
Multiethnic Young Leaders NZ (MYLN) is a network of former Race Unity Speech Awards national semifinalists and race relations leaders between the ages of 18 and 35 who are committed to serving Aotearoa through individually and collectively furthering racial justice, equity and unity, championing for greater ethnic diversity in leadership, and empowering young ethnic New Zealanders.
Our Kaupapa
To eliminate the barriers that exist and persist for ethnic New Zealanders and tangata whenua, so that all New Zealanders have access to the same opportunities and resources to succeed academically and professionally.
Objectives
To support the Race Unity Speech Awards and mentor young people of colour to ensure the continuity of diverse leaders in Aotearoa and the progression of our work in championing for greater race relations.
To encourage and facilitate collaboration between individual champions of racial justice, equity and unity in our community to concentrate our efforts and support each other’s work.
To provide networking, leadership and professional development opportunities to ethnic New Zealanders and tangata whenua to normalize the presence and success of ethnic New Zealanders and tangata whenua in these spaces.
To transform the face of Aotearoa’s leadership to better reflect New Zealand’s diversity.
